BACOLOD CITY, July 13 (PIA6) – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has allotted around PhP17.6-million worth of technology upgrading projects for the implementation of its Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) among micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Negros Occidental.
These MSMEs are comprised of Theresa Nutri Food Products, 2016-7 Nick’s Food Corporation, Muy Bien Ventures Co., Inc., Reauk Industrial Supply, Audacity Studio Design and Games Enterprise (ADAGE), Inc., Bebing’s Metal Craft, JNC Specialty Food Ventures, Inc. and Nhoj’s Sportswear.
Negros Occidental Provincial Science and Technology Director Engr. Allan Francis Dara-ug mentioned that Audacity Studio Design and Games Enterprise (ADAGE), Inc. was also a recipient of the Technology Business Incubation Center (TBIC), a joint project of the DOST with the Negros Occidental Provincial Government and Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation on Information and Communications Technology (BNEFIT).
Under the SETUP – Innovation System Support Fund (ISSF), the MSMEs are able to boost their productivity and efficiency through the infusion of appropriate technological innovations.
The program is likewise a tactic to empower the competitiveness of MSMEs through product and process upgrading, technical trainings, and consultancy services.
The SETUP focuses on key sectors such as food processing, furniture, gifts, decors and housewares, agriculture/aquaculture and marine, metals and engineering, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), and pharmaceuticals and health products.
Beneficiaries are reminded to repay the total cost of the assistance to the government for three years without interest.
