Angkas offers free rides to LRT-2 commuters


QUEZON CITY, October 9 (PIA) — Angkas Motorcycle Ride Service is offering free rides to  commuters  who were affected by partial shut down of Light Rail Transit-2.

It was the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) that announced Tuesday that Angkas  is giving free ride from Santolan Station to Recto Station, and vice versa.

A statement from LRTA said, about 50 motorcycle were made available by Angkas to ferry commuters from  Santolan Station to Recto Station and vice versa. The free rides will be from Tuesdays to Thursdays, from 8:00am to 10:00am and from 5:00pm and 7:00pm.

A fire occurred at the two rectifier substations of the LRT-2 System last week which resulted to the suspension of operations.

Partial commercial operations from Cubao to Recto resumed Tuesday after thorough safety checks have been completed.

“Thorough safety checks have been completed, and the signaling, telecommunications, power supply systems, tracks and the trains for these stations have been cleared and in normal condition,” said LRTA Administrator Gen. Reynaldo Berroya.

Train operation now starts at 6:00AM and closes at 8:30PM from Cubao and 9:00PM from Recto to give way for maintenance works, the LRTA said. (LRTA)
