ANTIPOLO CITY, July 11 (PIA) – The Antipolo City Government successfully celebrated this year’s nutrition month through the 6th nutrition caravan at Pantay Elementary School last July 3.
Some of the lined-up activities the caravan, which gathered alsmost 1, 300 particpants, included a feeding program for all the students of Pantay ES, and a seminar for all parents in cooperation with the City Health Office (CHO), City Cooperative and Livelihood Office (CCLO) and City Agriculture Office (CAO).
The seminar underscored the importance of right nutrition in every family and shared lessons about urban gardening which uses recycled materials like PET bottles, old tires, and cans.
The CCLO performed a meat processing demo in making homemade longganisa, tocino, and siomai to give additional source of income to all parents in the caravan.
The CAO, also, gave away vegetable seedlings for their urban garden.
According to City Mayor Jun Ynares, the local government believes that the key to having a progressive community is having healthy citizens.
This year’s nutrition month is anchored on the theme: “Ugaliing Magtanim, Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin.” (Bianca Veluz, PIA4A with reports from Antipolo PIO)
