Bayombong exec offers free caskets for the poor

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya , Aug. 31 (PIA) — Mayor Ralph Lantion said free caskets are being given to the bereaved families in this town as form of assistance.

“This is one of the major reasons why our town is being promoted as the happiest town in Nueva Vizcaya,” he said during the recent multi-sectoral forum on the Department of Energy’s “E-Power” Mo campaign.

Lantion said caskets worth P150,000 to P200,000 the most expensive, are given to the needy and poorest of the poor.

Close to 20 caskets which were sourced out from various sources have been distributed since his term started in 2016.

The caskets are temporarily stocked at the back of the municipal gymnasium in this town.

“These are not ordinary caskets that is why bereaved families are happy when we give these to them because of they saved much expenses,”Lantion added.

Lantion also added that his monthly salary is also being given to more than 1,000 scholars of the LGU who are pursuing studies in various levels or schools in Bayombong town.
