MANILA, July 13 — The Commission on Elections today reiterated the forthcoming deadlines on the filing of petitions for registration of political parties and coalition of political parties for purposes of the May 13, 2019 National and Local Elections.
The COMELEC set the last day of the registration of political parties on July 15, 2018 and the registration of coalition of political parties on August 31, 2018, pursuant to Resolution No. 10395.
However, since the deadline falls on a Sunday, submissions of petitions for registration of political parties will be entertained until 5:00 pm of July 16, 2018, Monday.
Under Section 61, Article VIII of the Omnibus Election Code, “Any organized group of persons seeking registration as a national or regional political party may file with the Commission a verified petition attaching thereto its constitution and by-laws, platform or program of government and such other relevant information as may be required by the Commission. The Commission shall, after due notice and hearing, resolve the petition within ten days from the date it is submitted for decision.”
Petitions for registration may be submitted before the Clerk of the Commission. Payment of a fee of P10,100 will be required. (COMELEC)
