DIPOLOG CITY, July 20 (PIA) — The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR} through Project Converge distributed farm implements and agricultural inputs to rubber farmers who are members of the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in the municipalities of Salug and Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte on July 16 and 17 to boost production.
DAR-Zamboanga del Norte Head, PARPO II Arturo N. Soria said the recipients of the assistance are Dinuan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (DARBEMCO) in Salug and Cabong Tampilisan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CATAMCO) in Tampilisan.
Soria said the farm implements and agricultural inputs will improve agricultural production and make farming activity easier and faster aside from increased production and .higher income.
The farm tools and equipment consist of shovel, grass cutters, pruning shears, tapping knives, sharpening hoe, manual hand diggers, digger bars, wheelbarrow ,coagulating vats and various farm inputs such as pesticide, fungicide, ammonium sulfate and complete fertilizers.
Project Converge Provincial Coordinator Engr. Alfonso A. Tan said the tools, equipment and agricultural inputs are assistance from the government to the members of the ARBOs.
“With the farm equipment, farmers will be trained on good agricultural practices for intensified rubber production and will be given an orientation on their roles and responsibilities to make the project sustainable,” Tan said. (ALT/ATR/PIA9-Zamboanga del Norte)
