ILOILO CITY, Aug. 4 (PIA6) — The regional office of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Western Visayas called on the whole DepEd family to pray and support the families of the teachers who perished in a sea tragedy here.

“We enjoin our DepEd family to pray for God’s comforting presence and love for the bereaved families,” said Dr. Lea Belleza, DepEd VI Education Program Supervisor and Information Officer.

She also urged them to extend their deepest sympathy in whatever way they can to ease the pain of the families in this tragedy.

Five teachers died after three pump boats sank at the Iloilo-Guimaras Strait due to bad weather on Saturday, August 3.

Of the five casualty teachers, Belleza said in her Facebook account that four are from Lambunao National High School and the other from Agcuyawan Calsada Elementary School in Barotac Nuevo town.

“May the memories of shared love to their students and colleagues in the department remain forever in our hearts,” added Belleza.
