Have you ever wondered what blackheads look like when they get bigger?
An old woman who is undergoing treatment for skin cancer did not realize that the mark found near her right eye turned out to be a large blackhead that had been there for years.
In an article written by Gemma Mullin for Mail Online last October 18, it has been noted that California-based dermatologist Dr. Sandra Lee of Skin Physicians & Surgeons was conducting a follow-up check on one of her elderly patients when the disc-shaped mark was presented to her.
The doctor was said to have shared to both the senior woman and her daughter that she has a YouTube channel with nearly 400,000 subscribers where she regularly uploads videos of her surgeries related to pimple popping.
Upon hearing this, the patient’s daughter immediately pointed out to Lee the spot on her mother’s right eye, which the doctor could not believe that it has never caught her attention in all their previous meetings.
Lee then made a small incision, squeezed the spot, and waited until something came out from it. The woman, who was still in high spirits, asked if it was a blackhead, to which the doctor replied, “It’s the mother of all blackheads.”
A blackhead, also known as an open comedo, is a wide opening on the skin with a blackened mass of skin debris, bacteria and oil blocking it.
“I find this little subculture fascinating. I pop these things, and yeah they kind of make me feel good, they’re satisfying, but it’s not like I seek them out,” Lee said in one of her previous interviews.
