TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, July 25 (PIA) – More than 400 children with disability including their guardians enjoyed a day full of fun and learning when they were treated by the Department of Health (DOH) and the City Government here during the weeklong celebration of the 41st National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week.
DOH – PWD Program Coordinator Christine Joan Balangue said the children displayed their skills and capabilities thru the games and mini-lectures conducted during the event.
Balangue said parents and guardians were taught Behavior Management at Home and Therapeutic Exercises that will help boost the children’s potential and ensure their well-being, as part of the event.
The children were also given food pack, hygiene kit and groceries from DOH, City Government, Movement for Individuals with Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, (MIND) Incorporated and St. Louis University Tuguegarao (now University of St. Louis) Batch ’94.
Balangue urged parents of children with disability to empower and make them more self-sufficient and send them to SPED centers.
“The importance of pre-natal check-up during pregnancy, doctor’s advice and immunization are also important,” she added.
Meanwhile, on July 30, 2019, all PWD with valid Tuguegarao – issued PWD ID will be entitled to free movie (1st screening) at Robinsons Movie world while children with disability can enjoy free play time at the Robinsons Place Activity Center, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. (MDCT/GVB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
