BORONGAN CITY. Jan. 11 (PIA) –Small businesses in the 5th class town of Gen MacArthur continues to thrive with the assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Late last year, some 33 entrepreneurs, mostly women, were given additional goods to enhance their small business ranging from variety stores, feeds and agri products, eateries and barbecue stalls.
Public Employment Service Officer (PESO) Salvador Anabaab of Gen MacArthur said after the operators of the small businesses submitted proposals to enhance their capital, he then drafted a mother proposal he submitted to the DOLE and got the needed additional goods.
Anabaab stressed that DOLE does not release cash, so that what the entreps got were stocks needed in their stores and commodities like tomato sauce and items like gas stoves, and kitchenwares for those in the food business.
In the simple distribution ceremony, Mayor Flora Ty reminded the beneficiaries to be serious in doing business.
“Kinahanglan upayon niyo an pagpadalagan hini nga gutiay nga puhunan para makabulig kamo pagsustiner hit mga panginahanglan hit iyo mga pamilya labi na nga waray niyo mga permanente nga mga pakabuhi,” (It is important that you manage your stores well, to help your families especially that you have no permanent jobs.) Ty reminded them.
“Dako gud ini nga bulig labi na kon uugopan ngan seseryosohon niyo it pagnegosyo,” (This can help you a lot, if you will be serious in your business.) the mayor added.
“The small business establishments were not start-ups, they have already proven somehow that they can ably manage their business,” said Anabaab.
“These small businesses can help the community by providing their basic needs while it also helps the entrepreneur by providing income, the government recognizes this, thus the government assistance,” said Fe Estrella, DOLE Eastern Samar chief. (NBQ/PIA 8-E. Samar)
