BAGUIO CITY, June 6 (PIA) –The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and its partners are all set for the June 12 Kalayaan Job and Business Fairs dubbed as “Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan” to be held in this city.
Set at the Porta Vaga Mall along Session Road here, there will be 25 local employers joining with 815 job vacancies to offer and six recruitment agencies with 2,873 job vacancies for overseas employment.
For local employment, three contractors of the Department of Public Works and Highways are joining in support of the national government’s “Build, Build, Build” infrastructure program.
To facilitate the application process for job seekers, there will be pre – registration activities at the Porta Vaga Mall on June 7 to 9 and at the Malcolm Square on June 7 and 8. Those who are pre-registered can proceed directly to the employers to apply on June 12.
With the government’s jobs fair initiatives adopting the “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan” concept, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will also bring in its “Negosyo Center” where jobseekers and people who are thinking of starting a livelihood or entrepreneurial undertaking can get business counselling or avail of other DTI livelihood/business – related services.
About 20 livelihood beneficiaries of DOLE, DTI and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) will also showcase their products in the event.
Porta Vaga Mall will have an in – house diskwento caravan. There will also be a business forum at the nearby Bishop’s House. Interested participants are advised to go to the Baguio City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) to register.
Other services to be offered that day include One – Stop Shop government service booths of the Social Security System, Philhealth, PAGIBIG and other partner regional line agencies.
The June 12 Kalayaan Job and Business Fair was formally launched in a media briefing on Monday with DOLE – CAR Regional Director Exequiel Ronnie Guzman and Asst. Regional Director Jesus Atal, OWWA Regional Director Manuela Peña, DTI Baguio – Benguet Provincial Director Freda Gawisan, Ronald Almonte of Porta Vaga Mall, Rexton Falag – ey of POEA and Timothy Zamora of Baguio – PESO.
Guzman reiterated the call to job seekers and prospective entrepreneurs to come and join the Kalayaan Jobs fair as job fairs have always been the best venue and opportunity for them to showcase their best personality and skills to employers.
During the May 1 Labor Day Jobs Fair, of the 2,401 registrants, 349 were Hired – On – The – Spot while 1,839 other qualified applicants were near – hires, or those who were required to submit additional documentary requirements or to go for additional interviews.
