SAN FERNANDO CITY, Sept. 9 (PIA) – – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has launched the “Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay Program” (NSBP) to help boost the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Ilocos provinces.
Director Grace Falgui – Baluyan, the regional director of DTI Region 1, said the program is being conducted to bring the services of their agency to the villages within the 4th to 6th class municipalities in the region.
“The NSBP aims to increase awareness of barangay officials and constituents about the services offered by DTI- Negosyo Center and to identify the MSMEs with business operations within the town,” said Baluyan.
She said, the identified towns are the areas where their agency can collaborate to make the residents as an economically independent and more effective partner in the attainment of national goals.
“We will also be assisting the potential barangay entrepreneurs to have access to capital loan assistance,” she said.
On August 14-16, 2019, DTI La Union had successfully held the three-day NSBP in Tubao town covering 18 barangays.
Over 150 barangay entrepreneurs and residents have attended the program held at the Tubao auditorium.
Tubao town Mayor Jonalyn G. Fontanilla – Piayas expressed her thanks to DTI Region I for bringing the NSBP to her town.
“The NSBP will aid our barangay entrepreneurs to enhance the quality of their products,” the lady mayor said.
Initially, the DTI gave a Shared Service Facility (SSF) to the farmers’ group in Barangay Halog West to hasten the processing of chichacorn food products – the registered One-Town-One Product (OTOP) of Tubao town. (JCR/FGL PIA1)
