FWD volunteers help empower Special Olympics athletes

BANTAY, Ilocos Sur, August 30 – –  “It’s the fulfilled experience that money cannot buy; it’s the happiness that we have seen in every athlete’s eyes.”

These were the words from FWD Life Philippines Head of Marketing and Community Care Lead Rochelle Vandenberghe when asked about the reward they have gained during the 2018 Special Olympics National Games from August 1 to 4, here.

Eight from the FWD Life Insurance Manila Team came to Ilocos Sur to support the intellectually disabled athletes in pursuing their abilities and talents through sports.

They were designated in the food and secretariat department while some showed their support to the athletes by cheering them on their games.

Vandenberghe said that it was their first time to be a part of a major endeavor of Special Olympics.

She noted: “I think truly from our hearts, they gave so much that we can even learn and we can’t even imagine to learn. We are humbled by just seeing the athletes so full of life in everyday adversities. We all have problems and yet here they are so full of life and so full of joy.”
