Gov't communicators gather for social security, energy briefing

DAGUPAN CITY, Dec. 4 (PIA) —  Information officers of government line agencies and local government units in Pangasinan gathered here Friday for a briefing of Social Security and energy programs.

The government communicators, collectively known as the Pangasinan Association of Government Information Officers (PAGIO), underwent a refresher discussion about Social Security System (SSS) programs and benefits as well as energy saving tips and discussion on understanding their electric bills.

“Ang objective ng pagtitipon ay upang ipamahagi ang mahahalagang impormasyon na dapat malaman ng mga nakararami lalong lalo na sa mga kinatawan ng mga ahensya ng gobyerno kahit na maliit lamang ang ating grupo ay magtutulungan tayo to learn from each other and help each other in cascading the information to the public,” said Oscar Navata, president of PAGIO.

PAGIO is an association that seeks to realize the President’s advocacy to reach out and get feedbacks from project beneficiaries and the public.

As a partner of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) – the lead communication arm of the government, PAGIO aims to establish a cohesive body of persons in the area of information and advocacy programs which will embody the sentiment and aspiration of its members.

During the program, Dindo Fernandez, team head of the account management section of SSS Dagupan Branch, provided the government communicators a briefing on social security programs and benefits while Lawyer Randy Santilan, legal officer of the Dagupan Electric Corporation, shared lectures on energy generation, energy saving tips, and facts about the electric bill.

Likewise, Ma. Lourdes Manaois, bank officer of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Dagupan Branch, also provided the members of PAGIO a briefing on the National Retail Payment System. (JNPD/EMBS/PIA-1, Pangasinan)
