CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, May 23 (PIA) – – Construction of the two-storey evacuation center located at the Capitol compound here is nearing completion.
As of April 30, 2019 the Department of Public Works and Highways- Cordillera Administrative Region regional office reported that construction is 98 percent complete.
Phase 1 of the project costs Php22.8 million and Phase 2 is Php11.3 million. Facilities include a prayer room, kitchen, storage area and nursery. Water reservoir, alternate generator, garbage disposal space are also provided for the safety and convenience of evacuees.
Emergency evacuation centers have already been completed and turned over in Baguio City, Apayao, Abra and Benguet.
Building of evacuation centers is a priority project of the Duterte administration to save the lives of people and provide residents around the vicinity and nearby towns a temporary shelter with essential facilities in times of disasters. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
