Lawmaker-elect bares priorities in 1st term of office

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, May 28 (PIA)–Newly-elected representative  of Cagayan’s 3rd District , Engineer Joseph L. Lara, revealed his priority legislative and development agenda few weeks prior to the beginning his term of office.

Lara, in an informal gathering, sought the support of the heads of various regional line agencies to help him fulfill his government platform and to implement high impact projects for the people of the 3rd district.

He said his top priorities and focus include infrastructure projects that will aid connectivity between and among the municipalities in the 3rd congressional district, especially road networks going to and from far-flung areas.

Lara said during the campaign, he saw potential tourist spots in some areas they visited in district 1 but access to these areas are not convenient.

Having witnessed this, he said that road networks and tourism roads should be given utmost priority as these are crucial contribution to economic development and growth especially in the countryside.

He urged officials of the Department of Agriculture (DA) to reach out farmers in the far-flung areas and introduce them new farming technologies to increase their productivity.

Lara also requested the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to bring their various social services and assistances to the grassroots so that more people will benefit.

He added that health facilities in the barangays need to be improved and upgraded in order to provide quality health services to more people and to keep up with the increasing population’s demand for health care.

“We encourage every agency to collaborate with us for programs or projects necessary for legislation. We need to work hand-in-hand to serve our people, especially the marginalized sector,” Lara said.

He also revealed that he will initiate the conversion of the Solana Freshwater School of Fisheries to be a university and be one of the campuses of the Cagayan State University. (ALM/OTB/PIA-2 Cagayan)
