LGU Naga lines up activities for 70th Charter Anniversary

NAGA CITY, June 13 (PIA) – The City Events, Protocol and Public Information Office (CEPPIO) announced to members of the local media here Monday, the different activities  in line with its platinum anniversary set on June 18, with the theme “Naga City: Empowering, Inspiring and Smiling at 70.”

Prior to its anniversary month, the city government of Naga under the stewardship of Mayor John Bongat already conducted significant activities as a prelude to the upcoming platinum celebration of Naga as a chartered city.

Some of these include the city’s partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) in the conduct of Brigada Eskwela, the commemoration of the death anniversary of the late DILG Secretary Jesse M. Robredo, the Sister City Agreement signing between Naga City and San Fernando City (La Union) and the signing of Siruma accord.

Yesterday, Nagueños joined the entire country in the celebration of the 120th Independence Day through the symbolic flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony held at the Plaza Quince Martires here.

This morning, Bongat delivered his State of the City report, highlighting among others, the many awards and recognitions that the city received as testimonies of its continuous effort to raise its bar of excellence in terms of good governance and transparency.

Top taxpayers and outstanding employees were also given due recognition for their untiring support and contribution in making Naga the most conducive place for business.

Allen Reondanga, CEPPIO Chief also announced that upcoming activities are already in place.

Starting tomorrow, June 14, CEPPIO will have its hands full to oversee the following activities:  City-wide blood donation drive and HIV-AIDS screening, Dugong Nagueño awards, volunteers recognition ceremonies and mass induction; Charter Day Job Fair, Basic Life Support Skills Showcase, Pilimania 7th Anniversary (June 15).

On June 16, Naga will celebrate the City Arbor Day. It will also be the opening of the 3-day Charter day art, literary exhibit , Charter Day Banchetto, Agri and Trade Fair and Naga City Public Service Day.

The highlight of the city’s 70th Charter Anniversary will be the oath-taking of the newly elected barangay and Sannguniang Kabataan Officials with Vice President Leni Robredo as the keynote speaker.  (LSMacatangay,PIAV/Camarines Sur)
