LRTA marks 38th Founding Anniversary with bloodletting drive, free medical services

MANILA, July 12 — Thirty-eight years of transcending the benchmark of railway system in the country in providing the Filipino people with enhanced mobility that they have always clamored for – this is being celebrated by the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) today, July 12, 2018, as it highlights having served more than five billion passengers.

As a kick-off activity for its 38th Founding Anniversary celebration, LRTA, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross and BioFemme Inc., held a bloodletting drive and provided medical services such as bone scanning, hemoglobin determination, blood pressure reading and sugar testing today, from 8 am to 12 nn at LRT-2 Cubao station.

According to LRTA Administrator Reynaldo Berroya, these kind of activities are initiated every anniversary to express gratitude to passengers and to be of help and assistance to its clientele.

“LRTA, for more than three decades now, has always been committed to improve its services and provide world-class light rail transport systems. We will always be committed to provide commuters with a safe, fast, reliable and comfortable mode of transportation in support of the current thrusts of the Department of Transportation for railway transportation,” he added.

Aside from the abovementioned activities, all LRTA utility, security guards, and other qualified LRTA personnel will also be given free Basic Computer Operations Course & Web Design and Basic Electrical Course at the LRT-2 Depot as the Authority strives to enhance the skills and capabilities of its personnel. 

LRTA manages the LRT-2 System spanning from Santolan station in Pasig to Recto station in Manila. It also owns the LRT-1 System spanning from Baclaran station in Parañaque to Roosevelt station in Quezon City which has been managed by the Light Rail Management Corporation (LRMC) since September 2015.
