QUEZON CITY, August 10 (PIA) –With the opening of classes on Monday, August 6, students of Muntinlupa City Government’s newest engineering school, the Colegio de Muntinlupa (CDM), get to experience what it’s like to study in a state-of-the-art “green building” worth P208 million.
The school, envisioned by the city to be the premier local institution for engineering in the country, is equipped with solar panels for power, rainwater collection technology system, sunbreakers, and windbreakers, among a host of environment-friendly architectural features.
According to the public information office, the CDM Building 1 houses nine classrooms, two computer laboratories, an engineering drawing room, a physics laboratory, a chemistry lab, and a library.
However, construction is still on-going for other school facilities, it said.
Muntinlupa residents enrolled in the college benefit from scholarship subsidy provided by the local government. Full tuition fee discount is offered to CDM’s Top 50 students and partial scholarship with 50% discount for Top 51-150 admission test passers, it said.
One other cool feature about being enrolled in the school is that students are given free ride to and from CDM grounds, it added.
For her part, CDM College Administrator and former DOST-NCR regional director Dr. Teresita Fortuna said the institution would provide top-notched education on science and technology from highly esteemed faculty and integrated training with top-of-the-line industrial equipment.
“Some of the members of the faculty who will be teaching at CDM are National Academy of Science and Technology’s Outstanding Young Scientist Dr. Nathaniel Hermosa, 2014 Civil Engineering Licensure Exam Topnotcher Harvey Malolos, professors from private and state universities, among others,” she said.
The CDM is located at Posadas Avenue, Sucat, Muntinlupa City. It offers BS Civil Engineering, BS Computer Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, BS Electronics Engineering, and BS Mechanical Engineering. Non-Muntinlupa residents can also enroll at the said college. (PIA-NCR)
