BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Oct. 3 (PIA) – Governor Carlos Padilla increased incentives for those who will be adjudged winners in the Search for Cleanest Body of Water, a component of the Search for Makakalikasang Barangay at Munisipyo (SMBM).
Padilla said the cash incentive for this year was raised from P25,000.00 and P30,000.00 for barangay and form P.250 to P.5 million for the municipality.
“We are increasing the incentive to help raise awareness on the importance of protecting our environment which will start from the barangays,” he said during the recent Water Summit at the Nueva Vizcaya Convention Center(NCC).
The SMBM is one of the major activities for the yearly celebration of the province’s Environmental Awareness Month in November.
Gloria Panganiban, a member of the SMBM evaluation team said barangays are being evaluated on their compliance on various regulatory measures designed to improve, develop and sustain the good quality inland bodies of water in their area.
“We do not only focus on the physical look of the environment but more so on the lgu’s actions to sustain the existing condition of their environment, improvements and introduction of other initiatives that contributed to the overall protection of environment, and other projects that help mitigate the impact of climate change,” Panganiban said.
