NAVAL, Biliran, Sept. 30 (PIA) — Ethel Lyn Dacurawat, family welfare officer of the Overseas Workers Welfare, Regional Office 8, is encouraging Biliran Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families to avail of the OWWA Rebate Program intended for long-time OWWA members.
Qualified to avail of the program are OFWs who have been members of OWWA for at least 10 years with at least five or more contributions made as of December 31, 2017 and OFW-members or their families who have not availed of any program or benefit from OWWA, Dacurawat said during the PIA-Biliran’s Pulong-Pulong ng Bayan over Radyo Natin-Naval recently.
Interested applicants may open the OWWA Rebate Portal which aids the distribution of the OWWA Rebate Program and functions as a database for qualified OFW-members.
Member-OFWs can use the OWWA Rebate Portal to verify if they are eligible of the rebate program.
It also serves as an appointment system where the qualified beneficiaries can set an appointment to the nearest OWWA office using the appointment code sent via SMS after setting an appointment with the portal. A valid government-issued ID is also required in the transaction, she said.
Qualified OFWs may be able to claim a certain amount based on the number of contributions.
Claimants are also required to present proof of their claims such as authorization letter from the OFW who is still abroad; medical certificate of a sick OFW-member; death certificate of a dead OFW; proof of relationship such as marriage contract and birth certificate; and valid ID of the OFW and the authorized representative.
For the convenience of the over 1,000 OFWs in Biliran qualified to avail of the Rebate program, OWWA set the schedules of transactions at the Biliran Provincial Civic Center, Capitol Compound, Brgy. Calumpang, Naval, Biliran, on October 28-30; and on November 5 and 6, 2019, Dacurawat said. (LDL/LPT/PIA-8, Biliran)
