CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Oct. 11 (PIA) – The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) here has conducted an advocacy campaign on environment protection handicapped pupils from Ilagan West and East Central Schools as part of the observance of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Protection Week, September 16 to 22.
Anchored with the theme “A Better World for Persons With Cerebral Palsy Love+Understand+Support=Make A Difference”, Raquel Caldez, PENRO – Isabela information officer said the environment protection advocacy to the pupils is aimed at giving emphasis on environment protection to children with disabilities to make them appreciate and understand the importance of environment.
During the activity held at Pinaroc Hall, PENRO – Isabela compound at barangay Osmena, pupils watched an environment film that highlight relationship and interaction between human and the environment.
“PENRO’s aim in conducting the advocacy through film showing is to encourage them to think about the natural worlds and inspire them to explore important environmental issues,” Caldez said.
PENRO presented the Northen Sierra Madre Natural Park’s flagship species which are the Isabela Oriole and Hawksbill turtle mascots after the film showing.
Caldez said pupils also actively participated in answering the trivia questions that centered on environmental conservation. (MGE – PIA-2/Isabela)
