Focusing on its vision of “Serving the people and securing the land,” the Philippine Army commemorates its 121st foundation anniversary this month with a series of activities that celebrates its accomplishment in the previous years.
According to Army spokesman Lt. Col. Louie Villanueva, the events will highlight how the country’s land forces moved for the success of the mission during the recent conflict in Marawi City which claimed the lives of 168 government fighters, and the continuous anti-dissidence campaign to curb out rebellious groups.
“The highlight of the Army’s accomplishment is indeed curbing the Marawi rebellion. Aside from that, sustained operations against various threat groups specifically the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front gained ground as it translated to a significant number of the neutralized enemy either through armed encounters or surrender,” he said.
Among the activities are the following: Tienda or Night Market (February 24-25); Nemiranda Art Exhibition (March 2); Fun Run (March 4); Info Caravan and Musikapayapaan 2018(March 10-11); Regional Annual Administrative Tactical Inspection (March 11); Commemoration of the Tejeros Convention (March 15); and Anniversary Mass and Wreath Laying Ceremony (March 19);
Also included are the Museum Open House (March 19-22); Senior Leaders Conference (March 20-21); Anniversary Ceremony (March 20); Fellowship Dinner (March 21); Simultaneous Flag Raising and Reaffirmation of Allegiance (March 22); and Testimonial Review in Honor of Army stakeholders and former Commanding Generals of the Philippine Army (March 22).
