BAGUIO CITY, June 13(PIA) — In honor of the gallantry of   our heroes and forefathers who fought for Philippine independence, the bravery and unity among present day Filipinos is called forth in ensuring that the future generation will live in a harmonious and progressive society.

Police Regional Office – Cordillera Regional Director BGen Israel Ephraim Dickson stressed this in his keynote message during the city government – led 2019 Independence Day program at PFVR Gym here, Wednesday,

Dickson outlined that along with the sacrifices made by the heroes and forefathers who fought for the country’s Independence 121 years ago, the Filipino people have been known for bravery and nationalism as shown in the other historic battles to retain freedom and independence against foreign oppressors.

As the country faces new threats in our independence, in our rights and freedom to live in a peaceful and progressive society, Dickson appealed to the people to take inspiration from the  bravery and patriotism of  our  ancestors and be united in addressing the present problems that gravely affect society. Among these are poverty, destruction of natural resources, insurgency, terrorism, criminality and illegal drugs.

“As your police in this region leads in law enforcement, I appeal to everyone to help us in the maintenance of peace and order. As you can see, the police cannot do this alone; our collaborative effort is needed for us to achieve our goals. Remember our welfare is everybody’s concern,” he stressed.
