PSO issues traffic re-routing plan for the Peñafrancia festivity

NAGA CITY, Sept. 11 (PIA) – With an expected multitude of 5 to 8,000 people composed of devotees, pilgrims, tourist and visitors trooping here for the annual traslacion procession this Friday, Sept. 13, this city government thru the Public Safety Office (PSO) has issued the approved scheme for the implementation of traffic re-routing for all the activities related to the celebration of the feast of our Lady of Peñafrancia.

This includes road closure and re-routing of vehicles which will be implemented by the PSO Traffic Management Centre all throughout the 8 major events and activities, including civic and religious events.

The plan will be implemented starting Sept. 13- the coronation night of Ms. Bicolandia 2019.  Other events where the said traffic scheme will be implemented include; Traslacion procession (Sept.13), Band, Majorettes and Fancy Drill (Sept. 14), Scouts Parade, BDC and DXMC Competition (Sept.18), Civic and Float parade, and Peñafrancia Voyadores (Sept. 19), Bicol Regional Military (Sept.20) and Fluvial Procession on Sept. 21.

JOC Manager and PSO Executive Director and Renne Gumba assured that all clusters under the JOC have already put in place their respective tasks for implementation to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles in and out the various venues. Advisories regarding road closures of major and connecting roads will be extensively disseminated though the media relations cluster.

Gumba said that the PSO have already designated parking areas for those who will bring their vehicles.

The PSO is part of the security cluster convened by the Multi-Agency Coordination Group (MAC-G) under the JOC.

The Security Cluster also assured that there will be PNP, PSO and other augmentation group members and personnel deployed in various areas to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the aforementioned events.  

For the Traslacion procession happening on Sept. 13, closed roads include San Felipe corner Matiway, Magsaysay corner Balatas, MT. Villanueva, Dayangdang corner Colgante, Peñafrancia corner Panganiban, P. Burgos corner Gen. Luna, P. Diaz corner Barlin, Sta. Cruz corner Barlin, Jacob corner E. Angeles St., Bagumbayan Sur cor Ateneo Ave., and MT Villanueva corner Jacob Street.

Designated parking areas are LCC Sabang, SM Naga, St. Joseph, City Hall compound, Naga City Civic Center, Peñafrancia Basilica, St. Jude St. San Felipe, Ateno Avenue and Jacob, St.
