SAN JOSE, Antique June 22 (PIA) – – Workers from the various business establishments at the Business Park here learned several life protecting activities such as duck, cover and hold and emergency evacuation during the conduct of the second Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill.
Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Alex Crespo of San Jose town said the activity aims to test the preparedness level of the people at the Business Park in support to the government’s nationwide campaign for disaster preparedness.
Crespo said the event likewise highlighted the capabilities and efforts of responders as to how they react appropriately, and to find out more on how to improve their role in crisis management.
During the drill, the scenario portrayed was a magnitude 7.5 earthquake causing damages to business establishments and hurting several people. Other scenarios include explosion and fire incidents, rescue and evacuation, proper handling of patients, and traffic management, among others.
The Provincial and San Jose Municipal DRRMOs, Bureau of Fire Protection, PNP, Philippine Army, Coast Guard, Philippine Red Cross joined the drill and showcased their response capabilities and resources.
The activity was also participated in by the Antique Provincial Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council members. (JBG/VWV/PIA Antique)
