Quirino residents urged to become SSS members


Various sectors participated during the SSS Sulit Conference in Cabarroguis, Quirino.

CABARROGUIS, Quirino, Aug. 31 (PIA)—Hundreds of residents from various sectors were urged to become members or activate their membership to the state-run Social Security System (SSS) in the just concluded back to back  SSS Multi-sectoral  and barangay fora at  Quirino Water Sports Complex  here. 

PIA 2 Regional Director Purita S. Licas, in her opening message said that there is a need to create massive awareness on the benefits of  membership to the SSS

The Sulit Conference is one of the series of sulit conferences cum barangay and multi-sectoral fora regionwide spearheaded by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in partnership with SSS aimed at  creating  wider scope of understanding and awareness on the various benefits of investing in the state-run social insurance programs.

The multi-sectoral forum was held in the morning and it was participated by officials from local government units, OFWs, employees from private and government sectors, cooperatives and self-employed individuals while the barangay forum was held in afternoon with barangay officials, TUPAD and 4Ps beneficiaries.

PIA 2 Regional Director Purita S. Licas, in her opening message said that there is a need to create massive awareness on the benefits of  membership to the SSS specially so that Region 02 was among four other regions in the Philippines with a “low level of awareness” on SSS benefits and services based on a PIA survey.

Licas urged the participants to become a member of SSS to avail the various benefits offered by the system as she shared that she already benefited from it being a member.

For his part, Elmore Villaroel, who represented Governor Junie Cua, in welcoming the participants, has encouraged them to become members as he shared the many benefits that he and his children  received when his wife, who was a member,  left them years ago.

Personnel from SSS Santiago City that  covers Quirino province discussed various topics ranging from registration for membership, benefits and others. They also answered questions from the participants such as  how to reactivate membership, how to avail benefits, among others. (MDCT/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
