Roque trumpets pro-poor programs of Duterte admin

VIGAN CITY, Oct. 3  — During the Ilocos Sur’s BILEG Party – Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) Signing of Alliance Agreement on September 28 here, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque highlighted the pro-poor programs of the Duterte administration.

Roque first cited the Republic Act No. 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act which gives free tuition to State Universities and Colleges in the country.

“Unang-una, sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon sa ating kasaysayan, ang Presidente Duterte lang ang nakapagbigay ng libreng tuition sa lahat ng state universities and colleges,” Roque said.

He also mentioned the Republic Act 10969 which gives free irrigation to farmers who own land not larger than 8 hectares.

“Ang Presidente Duterte lang ang nakapagbigay ng libreng patubig hanggang walong ektaryang lupain, ito ay sang-ayon na rin sa isang panukalang batas na naisabatas, kasama si Sen. Cynthia Villar. Ito ay isang panukalang batas na ating inihain noong tayo ay Kongresista bago lumipat sa Malacanang,” said Roque.

Roque also emphasized the Republic Act 11037 entitled “Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino” which aims to provide the needs of undernourished students in public daycare, kindergarten, and elementary schools.

“Meron pa pong isang regalo, ito po ay libreng tanghalian para sa lahat ng kabataan sa elementarya, kindergarten, at daycare centers,” Roque said.

He also added on the list the Universal Health Care (UHC) Bill which aims to ensure all Filipinos will get access to adequate health services.

“Naipasa po natin ang Universal Health Care Agosto noong isang taon, mabuting balita ng aking partner, sinabi niya kanina na sa Oktobre magiging batas na ang Universal Health Care,” the spokesperson said.

Moreover, Roque said the government is assuring a faster and free internet connection to the Filipinos.

“Dahil importante ang komunikasyon at teknolohiya, ang mabuting balita, mayroon na rin tayog hindi lang libre kundi mabilis na internet para sa buong Pilipinas,” Roque informed.

After the signing of the alliance agreement, Presidential daughter and current Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio administered the mass oath taking of more than 1000 BILEG members from the 32 barangays of the province headed by Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Luis V. Singson. (JNPD/JMQ/PIA-Ilocos Sur)
