SSS: Don’t leave women out in SSS membership

BACOLOD CITY, July 13 (PIA6)— Women should not be left-out in becoming SSS members so they, too, can also avail the privileges.

SSS Acting Vice President for Visayas West 1 Division Dr. Lilani Benedian said women are the most frequent SSS clients who pay their husband’s premium before they report to their office, after taking kids to school and during their break time.

They are at the frontline in making errands for house needs and in their workplace, therefore, they deserve to become members too and enjoy the insurance office’ programs especially maternity benefits.

Benedian made this statements during the recent ‘Sulit Barangay Forum’  attended by more than 100 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) parent-leaders held at the New Government Center, Annex Bldg.

Department of Social Service and Development Chief Pacita Tero wished the activity had been done long ago with the 4Ps program rolled-out in 2014 and has since, poured-in more than P18 million  for its capital assistance intended mostly for women.

He said he doesn’t have to worry where to get money for his medical sustenance noting that he doesn’t even have to work for it.

He expressed regrets though, that for a time he did not continue giving membership contribution that could have increased the present pension he is receiving.

During the program, all participants showed their desire to either become members or continue their membership contributions while some participants expressed intension to have other members of their family become members of the SSS as well.

Benedian said she is satisfied with the outcome of the activity and pledged to make thorough follow-up on the participants’ membership by acting on their needs.
