DUMAGUETE CITY, June 15 (PIA) — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Negros Oriental has started accepting applications for its National Assessment Day on June 26 and 27.
Officials from the TESDA provincial office made the announcement during a Kapihan sa PIA forum held June 14 here.
TESDA Provincial Director Dr. Floro Ringca encouraged industry workers, career shifters looking for jobs, graduates of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programs, senior high school students who graduated from tech-voc track, and teachers, trainers and other individuals who have undergone training and interested to be certified TVET Trainers and / or TESDA Accredited Assessors to avail of the free tech-voc skills assessment the agency.
The two-day activity highlights one of the core programs of TESDA which is Assessment and Certification.
The assessment process seeks to determine if the individual or worker can meet the standards expected in a specific industry.
On the other hand, a certificate is given to those who have met the competency standards of the industry to ensure the competitiveness of industry workers.
The event also aims to enhance employment and entrepreneurial prospects of various applicants through a TESDA Certification.
Individuals can apply for assessment and certification in the following TESDA qualifications: hielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II for Metals and Engineering Sector, Automotive Servicing NC I, Automotive NC II, Driving NC II for Land Transport Sector, Cookery NC II, Bread and Pastry NC II, Events Management NC III, Barista NC II, Food Processing NC II for Tourism Sector, Health Care Services NC II, Caregiving NC II, Massage Therapy NC II, Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II, Hairdressing NC II, Beauty Care Services NC II, Pharmacy Services NC II, Bookkeeping NC III for Health, Social and Other Community Development Services Sector, and x Animal Production NC II, Organic Agriculture Production NC II for Agro-fishery Sector.
This time, the agency will also prioritize qualifications involved in the construction sector in support to the government’s “Build, Build, Build” Program.
“We will prioritize qualifications under the construction sector. What are these? Carpentry, masonry, tile setting, plumbing, electrical installation, and welding,” Dr. Ringca announced.
The free assessment process will be held in 12 different areas, namely, Asian College, Cebu Science of Welding and Skills Technology Inc., Dumaguete Christian Technical School, La Consolacion College in Bais City, Metro Dumaguete College, Negros Island Training and Assessment Center (NITAC), Provincial Integrated Skills Training Center (PISTC), Silliman University, Sto. Niño Skill Training, and Team Skills for Culinary Arts.
Some 830 slots were opened for the assessment and certification of said qualifications and programs.
Initially, the TESDA provincial office has set the deadline of filing for application on June 15, 2018.
However, TESDA TEST Supervising Specialist Beth Aimee Tubog explained that since there are still vacant slots in some programs, they will still be accepting applications from individuals until before the date of assessment.
Some qualifications with available slots in major assessment centers are Bread and Pastry NCII, Caregiving NCII, Health Care Services NCII, Computer Systems Servicing NCII, Events Management Services NCIII, Housekeeping NCII, and Food and Beverage Services NCII for Asian College, Carpentry NCII and Masonry NCII for Cebu Science, Bread and Pastry NCII and Cookery NCII for La Consolacion College of Bais City, Hilot (Wellness Massage NCII) in NITAC, Food Processing NCII and Tourism Promotion Services NCII in Team Skills.
Interested applicants must submit accomplished registration form he Application Form and Self – Assessment Guide (SAG) at https:goo.gl/sluc7c and http://www.tesda.gov.ph/Self-Assessment Guide (the said form can also be secured at the Provincial office), three passport size pictures, colored, white background with name written at the back and all other requirements to the accredited assessment centers or at the nearest TESDA Provincial Office.
