TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Jan. 14 (PIA) — Barangays Gosi Norte and Centro 6 were declared as the first two barangays in this city as drug-cleared by the Regional Oversight Committee (ROC) on Barangay Drug-Clearing Program in a ceremony held at the Tuguegarao City Hall on Thursday, Jan. 10.

The two barangays have complied with the requirements set forth under Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Regulation Number 3, Series of 2017. They are now free from illegal drug activities such as the non-availability of drug supply in the area and the absence of the following: drug transit activity, clandestine drug laboratory and chemical warehouse, marijuana cultivation site, drug den, drug pusher and user.

City Mayor Jefferson Soriano congratulated Brgy. Captains Gloria Exclamador of Gosi Norte and Claudio Luis Calubaquib of Centro 6 for a job well done in supporting the war on drugs of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, being the first two barangays to be declared as drug-cleared in the city out of 49 barangays.

The two barangays each received P500,000 worth of project reward from the city government.

Soriano said Exclamador and Calubaquib, this early, should submit their program of work for the immediate release of their reward.

For his part, Exclamador said their journey towards making their barangay as drug-cleared was not easy. But, he said, with the support of city officials, concerned agencies, people in their community, and the Tokhang responders themselves, they were able to comply with the requirements set forth under DDB.

In his testimony, Genaro Adduru, one of the Tokhang responders from Gosi Norte, said the Oplan Tokhang of the government made him realize how the government look after their future.

“Pinadama ng Oplan Tokhang ang kahalagahan ng buhay para sa akin,” he shared.

Adduru said when his family, especially his children, and siblings became aware that he was a user, they immediately lose their respect for him.

“You gave us another chance”, he added, thanking the agencies who helped them during their rehabilitation program.
