CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Dec. 10 (PIA) — City Council Committee on Women and Family Relations here encouraged women to always have a positive outlook in life.
This after Councilor Edna M. Dahino, chair of the committee, met with the focused group of women from resettlement areas or women in especially difficult circumstances during a consultative meeting.
Dahino likewise emphasized the importance of acknowledging self-worth as a tool to be of service to others and to be open-minded amid trials and hardships.
She also pointed out that poverty can be overcome through hardwork and strong belief in the Almighty’s guidance and provision.
The councilor also advised them to stand up and move on from painful experiences as this will develop in them a strong and resilient character.
Although women’s rights are protected by the government, they should not neglect spiritual upliftment knowing that without God, people can do nothing, Dahino said.
The meeting was organized by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWD), and the City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD). (SP/JAO)
