WorldNews.ph Editor-in-Chief Jonald Justine Itugot was conferred the Gawad Dyornalismo 2018 for Outstanding Campus Paper Adviser
The Asia-Pacific Awards Council and the Center for the Promotion of Campus Journalism awarded the Gawad Dyornalismo for Outstanding Campus Paper Adviser to WorldNews.ph Editor-in-Chief Jonald Justine Itugot during a national gathering in Tagaytay City on Saturday.
In the award’s citation, it was noted that Itugot was instrumental in championing the cause of campus journalism, particularly in the implementation of Republic Act 7079 also known as the Campus Journalism Act of 1991.
Itugot is a college professor at the University of Perpetual Help (UPH) – Molino in Bacoor City who handles subjects in journalism, humanities, music, philosophy, and religion.
He previously served as the learning area coordinator for humanities and social sciences for the Senior High School Department of the same University, and as coordinator of The Perpetual Light, the official student publication of UPH-Molino.
Prior to his stint as a Perpetualite faculty member, he worked as publications moderator at San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Cavite and school paper adviser at St. Joseph College – Cavite City.
He has been a resource person and contest judge for different journalism-related activities from the local to the national levels, and has mentored students to win in the Division, Regional, and National Schools Press Conferences of the Department of Education.
In 2017, Itugot won as the champion in Engligh news writing for school paper advisers during the National Media Congress of the School Press Advisers’ Movement held in Malay, Aklan, and was elected as the regional representative for Calabarzon of the Children’s Museum and Library, Inc. – Teacher Advisers’ Association of the Philippines.
