TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, July 30 (PIA)–The National Nutrition Council (NNC) in Region 2 initiated the conduct of the zumba video making contest as one of the council’s strategies in promoting a balanced healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition and physical fitness activities.
According to nutrition program coordinator Ma. Gisela Lonzaga, the zumba video making contest is one of their lined up activities for this year’s nutrition month celebration with the theme “Kumain nang wasto at maging aktibo…push natin ’to!” (Eat healthy and do physical activity…let’s push this!)
Lonzaga said that this year’s theme urges everyone to advocate and realize the importance of healthy diets, increased physical activity and reduced sedentary behavior through activities among individuals and families.
“Because of this, we were inspired to push for the conduct of the zumba video making contest inviting all local nutrition councils regionwide to participate by submitting their respective video-entries,” Lonzaga said.
At least seven LGUs submitted their entries prior to the set deadline which include the provinces of Quirino, Cagayan, Batanes, Nueva Vizcaya and the city governments of Tuguegarao, Ilagan and Santiago.
The said zumba video-entries were already judged, yesterday, July 29, at the NNC-2 Office. Invited judges include Angely L. Mercado of the Philippine Information Agency, Jay-R B. Bayani of the College of Human Kinetics-Cagayan State University and Dr. Chita C. Ramos, Dean of the College of Human Kinetics-Cagayan State University.
Winners will be announced during the NNC-2’s nutrition month culminating program to be conducted in Dupax Del Sur in Nueva Vizcaya on July 31, 2019.
The first place will receive P12,000 while the second and third placers will get P9,000 and P6,500, respectively. Non-winners will receive P3,500 each.
Lonzaga said all video-entries become the sole property of the NNC-2, adding that the winning entries will be shared to all regional line agencies, LGUs, academe, and to other interested groups or stakeholders for their consumption. (ALM/PIA-2)
